Le Conseil scolaire francophone provincial reçoit favorablement l’annonce du budget pour la planification de l’agrandissement de l’École Boréale par le gouvernement provincial de Terre-Neuve-et-Labrador.
Dans son budget 2025 annoncé le 9 avril dernier, le gouvernement de Terre-Neuve-et-Labrador a prévu une enveloppe budgétaire vouée à la planification de l’agrandissement de l’École Boréale de Happy Valley-Goose Bay. Après plusieurs années de revendications, le CSFP est heureux que la province a finalement démarré le processus.
En plus de cette annonce, le CSFP réagit favorablement à d’autres investissements liés à l’éducation. Toujours en infrastructure, le gouvernement prévoit une enveloppe de 1.9 millions de dollars pour continuer le redéveloppement de l’École Rocher-du-Nord à St. John’s.
Le CSFP bénéficiera également d’une augmentation dans son budget opérationnel. Le gouvernement a annoncé des investissements importants pour les services d’enseignement, la technologie, les repas scolaires, ainsi que des initiatives en recrutement et en rétention pour des postes difficiles à combler ou en régions éloignées. Ces mesures répondent directement aux besoins pressants dans toutes les écoles de cette province. Le Conseil attend avec intérêt des précisions sur la façon dont ces mesures seront appliquées dans les écoles de langue française.
Michael Clair, président du CSFP, s’est dit réjoui des sommes annoncées pour le CSFP dans le Budget 2025, surtout en ce qui a trait à l’expansion de l’École Boréale à Happy Valley-Goose Bay, qui fut une demande de longue durée du conseil. Il est aussi heureux de la bonification du budget de base du CSFP.
Bien qu’il reste beaucoup de travail à faire vers l’équivalence réelle en éducation, surtout en matière d’infrastructure, le Conseil scolaire francophone provincial perçoit ce budget comme un pas dans la bonne voie.
NEWS RELEASE – CSFP reaction to the announcement of the provincial budget
The Conseil scolaire francophone provincial welcomes the announcement of budget funding for the planning of the expansion of École Boréale by the Government of Newfoundland and Labrador.
In its 2025 Budget announced on April 9, the Government of Newfoundland and Labrador allocated funds dedicated to the planning of the expansion of École Boréale in Happy Valley-Goose Bay. After several years of advocacy, the CSFP is pleased that the province has finally initiated the process.
In addition to this announcement, the CSFP also reacts positively to other education-related investments. Still on the topic of infrastructure, the government has earmarked $1.9 million to continue the redevelopment of École Rocher-du-Nord in St. John’s.
The CSFP will also benefit from an increase in its operational budget. The government has announced significant investments in teaching services, technology, school meals, as well as recruitment and retention initiatives for hard-to-fill or remote positions. These measures directly address pressing needs in all of the province’s schools. The Conseil looks forward to learning how these measures will be implemented in French First Language schools.
Mr. Michael Clair, President of the CSFP, expressed satisfaction with the funding announced for the CSFP in the 2025 Budget, especially regarding the expansion of École Boréale in Happy Valley-Goose Bay, which has long been a request of the Conseil. He also welcomed the increase in the CSFP’s core budget.
Although much work remains to be done to achieve real educational equity, particularly in terms of infrastructure, the Conseil scolaire francophone provincial sees this budget as a step in the right direction.
